If you find yourself thinking “I am already very self aware” or “Therapy hasn’t helped me in the past because I’ve already processed everything… but my symptoms persist”, somatic interventions might be the perfect fit for you.
Somatic therapy seeks to treat the underlying cause, not the symptom. While you might already know everything about your symptoms, you might not embody, or experience, them in a meaningful way that allows them to discharge from your nervous system. Your body might be running processes that are unable to “complete” until we give them a safe, contained space to do so.
You will notice a shift in your overall way of being very early on in our work together. Many of my clients report feeling a stark difference after just one session. When you begin to connect with your body in new ways, you might notice sensations, emotions and somatic experiences more than you ever have before. This can bring a depth of insight that goes beyond self awareness at a cognitive level.
However, SE is a gentle approach that takes time. Our bodies run on a lag from our brain, and our nervous systems often need 36-48 hours to fully integrate somatic work. You will need to be open to subtle shifts and giving your body time and space in order for SE to be most effective.
SE is also great for those who would like to try something like EMDR, but are prone to dissociation and require a gentler, slower approach.

During our 15 minute call or video meeting, we can discuss your goals for therapy and chat to see if we’re a good fit to start sessions together.
You will have a chance to ask me logistical questions, and I can share a bit about what I do.
Please understand: This call is not therapy. It’s a chance for us to get to know each other.
If we are not the best fit, I am also happy to provide you with referrals to other professionals and any resources you may need. Either way, you will leave our call with more direction than you had before our chat.
